Love Is An Action: To My Fellow Christians

This goes out to all my thoughts and prayers people.

Yes. Let’s storm heaven with thoughts and prayers. Ask him to soften hearts and move mountains. But then remember- he breaks our hearts for what breaks his heart.

Is your heart broken? It should be because God’s heart is mourning all of our black sister and brothers. Every single one of them.

This goes out to the people who are waiting for God to move mountains. Who sit back and claim that the world will only become whole when everyone unites under Jesus. And while yes, I do believe that I recognize the deeply flawed logic that comes from this.

When we send up our thoughts and prayers, when we say Jesus is enough, we are ignoring the calling that Jesus put upon our lives.

We are all the capital C CHURCH, we are all the hands and feet of Jesus.

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 NLT

We are all the body of Christ and we are all his hands and feet here on earth which means we have to do HIS WORK here on earth.

That struggle you feel in your soul right now? That agonizing sadness? That is God breaking your heart for what breaks his heart. He is moving mountains WITHIN you right now. DO NOT IGNORE THAT.

Are you heartbroken that you are praying and nothing is changing? Look inside you, and see the work He is doing within you. Listen to His calling and go and actively do something. He calls you to love. It is the greatest commandment of all. To love Him, and to love your neighbor. If you can’t do the work to do that- there is something very broken inside of you that I recommend you pray over.

Something that I learned when I started my personal journey with Jesus is that love is not an emotion. It is an ACTION. God loves us. He loves us actively- He shows us He loves us constantly by showing up, by being with us through it all, by moving hearts and mountains. And He calls us to love like He does.

Read this next verse. Really read it. Pray over it. Understand it. And recognize that God is not simply calling you to thoughts and prayers. If you are really praying the prayers that God calls you too, He will move in your heart. He will move you to ACTION. Because He shows us that love is an action everyday when He wakes us up in the morning, when He fills our lungs with breath, when He pushes us to be better disciples and simply better humans. He wants you to show your love in action as well.

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.” 1 John 3:18-20 NLT

Do you feel guilty? That is God stirring your soul. Are you being confronted with personal racism, sexism, homophobia, etc? That is God moving mountains for you. Recognize the work God is doing in you and PRAISE Him for it. He is cleaning out the cobwebs from your soul.

And remember: Each and EVERY HUMAN on earth was made in God’s image. No matter who they are what they believe or what they do. And Christ does not sit still in moments of oppression- neither should we.

If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.” 1 Corinthians 12:26 NLT

Let us honor all our black and POC brothers and sisters. Let us honor all our oppressed brothers and sisters. Let us stand for them and with them. It is what God calls us to do and to do any less is quite literally to sin.
